Under the direction of GRAMMY-nominated educator, musician, author, and producer Caleb Chapman, the Soundhouse Center for Contemporary Music™ (CCM) at Anthem Prep will launch its new home at Anthem Preparatory School in 2024 as the global leader in contemporary music education at the secondary level.

Extracurricular in nature, students study a wide range of contemporary styles, including rock, jazz, pop, funk, R&B, hip-hop, electronic, Latin, and country. Our students learn from curriculum designed with input from members of the CCM’s Advisory Board who, combined, have sold well over 100 million albums and share more than two centuries of music education experience.

Cofounded by visionaries Caleb Chapman and Sofia Detjen, CCM students will have access to instruction and performance opportunities typically reserved only for musicians at the university level at Soundhouse, setting them up for success with achievements previously unattainable for grades 6-12.

The class is open to students on guitar, bass, piano, and drums, as well as vocalists.

Under the direction of Caleb Chapman, Anthem Prep's Rock Essentials Ensemble Program is the only class of its kind in the State of Utah. Students in grades 6-9 will learn proficiency on their instruments while playing a wide range of the biggest hits from popular music over the last 100 years. Musicians with at least one year of experience on their instrument receive a complete introduction to the musical and performance skills necessary to play in a band.

Participants will have performances each semester to showcase their progress and an opportunity to attend masterclasses through the award-winning Caleb Chapman's Soundhouse with some rock and pop legends.

The CCM will feature two multiyear certificate programs: Music Performance and Music Production.

The certificate requirements reflect the evolving nature of music in the digital age, as students develop skills in digital production and recording, music synthesis, songwriting, and scoring. They also learn valuable business skills needed for success in the industry and collaborate on songwriting and production projects with the musicians that support the program. 

1. Music Performance Certificate
   Students have the opportunity to rehearse, perform, record, and tour with Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse, the nation’s leading music performance training program.

2. Music Production Certificate
   Students have the opportunity to assist in major recording projects at June Audio Recording Studios. The studio has spearheaded projects for artists such as Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Neon Trees, and countless others.

The CCM will feature a variety of top-tier guest artists and lecturers throughout the academic year.

The Artists in Residence program offers opportunities for the world’s leading performing artists to spend time at the school, working with students and taking advantage of the multidisciplinary environment.

The premier band of the CCM, Analog Crush, represents Anthem Prep at events and concerts throughout the year. We select members for both their advanced musical ability and highly-developed performance skills. The band performs original material written by its members, as well as covers of popular songs.

Chaired by Jim Detjen, Soundhouse partner and President & CEO of Katapult Sport & Entertainment Group, the curriculum now being designed is the finest in the nation, with input from CCM’s newly organized Advisory Board members. Combined, members of the Advisory Board have sold well over 100 million albums and embody over two centuries of music education experience.
