This is what it means to be part of our family.

At Anthem Prep, challenging academics, high behavioral standards, and good-hearted fellowship are not mutually exclusive. We intentionally cultivate meaningful relationships and connect the Lower School and Upper School in ways that are transformative for all students. You can see the strength of our community everywhere: in our hallways between classes, at our lunch tables, by our turnout for athletic events, and in the friends that your child will bring home.

Our students work hard and expect a lot from themselves as individuals. Their achievements are possible, though, because they are members of a community. Anthem Prep students share a common moral purpose and support each other inside and outside the classroom.

Clubs, Programs & Activities
Samaritan Path

In conjunction with out commitment to the students’ character growth, Anthem Prep encourages everyone to “walk the Samaritan Path.” We believe it is vital for young people to look beyond themselves and participate in service to others.

Every Wednesday at the school is “Be the One” day. Students enjoy dressing down to jeans and a special t-shirt--which is fun, but on that day, students are challenged to “be the one” to help someone in the school, their homes, and in their communities. From letter writing to veterans, volunteering at the local food bank, or participating in the Honor Flight program, students will have the opportunity to serve others during their years at Anthem Prep.

Student Ambassadors

Student ambassadors are school leaders from grades nine through twelve. The purpose of the student ambassadors is as follows:

  • To improve school spirit and morale

  • To coordinate school functions and activities

  • To improve and encourage student/faculty relations

  • To promote Anthem Prep in the community

  • To promote the general welfare of the school

A student must maintain a good academic and discipline record to be eligible for candidacy. Applications are available annually and require a letter of recommendation from a current faculty member.

To remain a student ambassador, students must abide by the school Code of Conduct and attend all meetings and activities.

Student ambassadors are recognized for their service in the following ways:

  • $500 scholarship for school travel

  • Letter of recommendation from the administration for college

  • Student ambassador jacket or sweater

  • Leadership training

Honor Societies

The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization that recognizes exceptional secondary school honor students. The administration and teachers recommend students based on scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

National Honor Society
To be eligible for membership, the candidate must be a member of the sophomore (10), junior (11) or senior class (12) and have attended Anthem Prep for one semester. Scholastically, a student must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.7 for the previous three (3) semesters (GPA is unweighted.)  Leadership is based on one (1) or more school/ community activity (Scouting, church groups, school clubs or activities, etc.). Membership alone in a club/organization/project does not guarantee acceptance into the National Honor Society. The service requirement obligates students to participate in three (3) or more service projects in the school and community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, and cooperation with both faculty and students. Applications are available at the beginning of each semester and require a letter of recommendation from a current faculty member. Society officers are appointed annually.

Membership in the National Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. Members are expected to continue demonstrating the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Failure to do so can result in warnings and dismissal from the Society. Deficiency in any or all of the above can disqualify a student from membership.

National Junior Honor Society
To be eligible for membership, the candidate must be a member of the seventh (7), eighth (8), or ninth (9) grades and have attended Anthem Prep for one semester. Scholastically, a student must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.7 for the previous three (3) semesters (GPA is unweighted.)  Leadership is based on one (1) or more school/community activity (Scouting, church groups, school clubs or activities, etc.). Membership alone in a club/organization/project does not guarantee acceptance into the National Honor Society. Applications are available at the beginning of each semester and require a letter of recommendation from a current faculty member. Society officers are appointed annually.

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. Members are expected to continue to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Failure to do so can result in warnings and dismissal from the Society. Deficiency in any or all of the above can disqualify a student from membership.

Spirit Sticks Recognition

What are Spirit Sticks?
Spirit Sticks® are small custom-embroidered patches that students can earn, collect, and display on their Spirit Ring™—provided to each student at Anthem Prep.

Spirit Sticks promotes school spirit and participation by providing meaningful extrinsic rewards with lasting value beyond the school year.

Spirit Sticks can be earned or bought. They may be earned for good work in the classroom, such as improvement in math, reading, or spelling, memorization assignments, as well as acts of service and kindness. However, Spirit Sticks that are used for rewards can not be purchased—only earned.

Special Spirit Sticks are used for attendance rewards—the Jean’s Pass and the Golden Ticket. Students who have perfect attendance for an entire month of school, never being late for class, checking out, or checking in, are eligible for a Jean’s Pass. The Jean’s Pass allows a student to wear the Friday uniform (jeans, a school t-shirt, and tennis shoes.) Students with perfect attendance will also earn a Golden Ticket spirit stick. Golden Tickets allow students a day off from wearing the school uniform.

Other Spirit Sticks are just for fun! They are available for sale for $1.00 throughout the year in the office and during special events. The main office will advertise in advance which sticks will be offered for sale. In addition, once or twice a year, parents may have the opportunity to purchase the Jean’s Pass and Golden Ticket as a special gift offering.

How can parents get involved?

  • Parents can help their students get their spirit ring attached to their backpacks.

  • Parents can remind their children that all of the teachers and staff at Anthem Prep have spirit sticks to reward and award a student for good behavior and a job well done.

  • Parents can encourage their children to earn money at home to purchase Spirit Sticks throughout the school year and/or give them money to buy spirit sticks for themselves, their friends, or their loved ones.

  • Parents can watch the newsletter for details on a special parents’ only Spirit Stick sale for Christmas and/or birthday gift ideas.

Field Trips

At Anthem Prep, we believe that learning should be hands-on. Our teachers use manipulatives when teaching math, experiments when teaching science, and costumes or props when teaching history. While much of our lessons are taught in the classroom, there are times when we take the classroom outside or away from the school altogether. Field trips are an essential part of learning. They allow for:

  • Cultural Enrichment

  • Development of critical-thinking skills

  • Creation of historical empathy

  • Building of interest in art museums, music, and dance

  • Experimentation and exploration

Students of all ages and grades participate in field trips. We travel by foot, by bus, and some stay on campus. The following are just some of the field trips the students have experienced:

  • Aquarium

  • Discovery Space Center

  • This Is the Place

  • Hogle Zoo

  • Junior Biz Town

  • Tracy Aviary

  • Museum of Natural Curiosity

  • Museum of Ancient Life

  • Natural History Museum, University of Utah

  • Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum, Brigham Young University

  • Brigham Young University Art Museum

  • Hill Air Force Base

  • Kennecott Copper Mine

Graduation Ceremony

Graduation is a school-wide celebration at Anthem Prep. The senior class is recognized for its hard work and dedication during the graduation ceremony held yearly at Awaken Events Center in South Jordan. Parents, families, students, and staff are invited to attend the ceremony. The event includes music, guest speakers, senior video, and many photo opportunities. The graduates are presented with their senior gift and diploma before ending the evening with light refreshments.

Cap and Gown

Cap and gown rentals are handled through the school. The fee is $25 and includes a tassel, which the students keep. The young men wear black robes, and the young women wear red.

Senior Pictures

Lifetouch studios take senior pictures on campus. The cap and gown picture is taken in the fall. The students also have the option to take photos in various outfits with different backdrops and props.

School Traditions
Harvest Day Celebration

October 31st (Halloween) is the Harvest Day Celebration at Anthem Prep. Students are invited to attend school in costumes representing STORYBOOK CHARACTERS or HEROES, including modern-day heroes. No masks or faux weapons are allowed at school.

Thriller Performance

Each year, the dance classes work on different sections of the “Thriller” dance. The students come dressed for their performance during the Harvest Day celebration (October 31st). At 1:00 p.m., all the students, staff, parents, and families gather in the parking lot where the dance students perform. Before the performance, the parking lot is blocked with caution tape to create the “dance” floor and viewing locations.

Christmas Teddy Bear Project

The Christmas Teddy Bear Project has been a part of Anthem Prep since its first year. Each Christmas, students bring in new teddy bears and place them under the school’s Christmas tree for children in need. On the last day before Christmas break, all students form a line throughout the school halls and pass the bears, giving each one a gentle squeeze and a bit of love and hope before passing it along. The school selects different organizations to donate the bears, which have included the Salt Lake Homeless Shelter, the South Jordan Fire and Police Departments for children in crisis, The Bradley Center, refugees, and the Utah National Guard for active military families.

Teacher Prep Days

Teacher preparation days are scheduled periodically throughout the year. These days, the school administration and staff hold meetings and prepare curricula. Early College classes are held on these days, but no other classes are in session. No after-school or extended programs are held on these days.

Spring Service Day

Each spring, half a school day is set aside as Service Day. Each class is given different cleaning assignments around the school, playground, and the local community park. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to serve the others that serve them daily, including the city, which works hard to keep up the park and allows the school to use it regularly. (The school requests that each student attend Spring Service day. Students do receive credit for attending.)

Youth Conference

In May, all 7th through 12th-grade students and their teachers spend two nights and three days at Youth Conference (included in tuition). The focus of the conference is to develop leadership and team-building skills. Each year, the conference has a different theme with speakers, music artists, activities, and a dance.

Graduation

Senior graduation is held yearly at Awaken Events Center in South Jordan. All students, staff, and families are invited to attend. Graduates receive a senior blanket with the school’s name in recognition of their time and effort at Anthem Prep.

Different Uniform Days
  • Halloween/Harvest Day Costumes: Storybook character, hero, Halloween shirt with jeans

  • Christmas (last day before break): Christmas shirt with jeans, optional

  • Valentine’s Day: Valentine’s or red/pink shirt with jeans, optional

  • St. Patrick’s Day: Students can add something green to their uniforms

  • Spring Pictures: Nice spring attire, capris (shorts to the knees), no flip flops

  • Spirit Week: Attire for different themed days

Parent Association

The primary goal of the Anthem Prep Parent Association (APPA) is to enhance our students’ learning experience through parent service and involvement.

Every parent is a member of APPA and is encouraged to become involved. School participation is a wonderful way to make friends, support our school and become acquainted with all that Anthem Prep has to offer.

Each year the APPA plans various activities and events; the Back-to-School night social, educational field trips, teacher appreciation, teacher birthdays, and holiday parties—to name a few.

We understand that our parents are busy with the demands of everyday life. Still, we also know that by giving of your time and talents, you can contribute to APPA’s efforts to create a successful educational environment, serve the teachers and staff, and sponsor and support enriching activities for our school.

Uniform & Dress Code
Dress Code

Why we require one.

Anthem Prep has a mandatory dress code for all students. Students are expected to be neat, clean, and dressed in uniform at all times unless permitted by the administration to be out of uniform. There are many positive reasons for a dress code, including:

  • A dress code encourages students to express their individuality through personality and academic achievements, not outward appearances.

  • A dress code puts the focus on academics, not fashion, because students project a neat, serious, businesslike image.

  • Schools with dress codes have fewer discipline problems because students are less distracted.

  • Dress codes can be less expensive.

  • Dress codes eliminate the visible differences between needy and wealthy children.

  • Dress codes eliminate the pressure to wear brand-name clothing, immodest styles, etc.

  • Dress codes create a sense of school pride and belonging.

General Rules

General Rules

  • White dress shirts must be tucked in.

  • Clothes must be the appropriate size, with the waist of the garment worn at the student’s waist.

  • Clothing that is too tight or too loose is not appropriate for school.

  • Only school-approved jackets, hoodies, and sweaters are allowed in the classroom.

  • Hoods are not allowed to be worn in the classrooms or hallways.

  • School administrators will determine if clothing is appropriate for school and complies with the uniform guidelines.
